Package Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Pick up from the airport then transfer to the hotel to have some rest

Day 2: Nouakchott City Tour

After breakfast, you will go to have a city Tour.

Nouakchott city is the capital and the biggest city in Mauritania. In this tour you will be visiting the national museum which displays archeology, artifacts customs and textiles from prehistory to the present days of Mauritania.

You will also visit the Saudi mosque. Not only that, you will also visit the camel market and Gallery Zein Arts. Then after lunch, you will drive to Akjoujout 250km from Nouakchott where you will spend the night. End of day 2

Day 3: Azouega

Day 3 is full of sightseeing. You will drive from akjoujout to Azouega one of the biggest sand dunes in Mauritania surrounded by beautiful oasies. The views never cease to amaze you. Sometimes you are driving through the sand dunes and other times driving through rocky formation. You also pass by the Bedouins and have tea with them and converse with them. After Azouaga you will pass Tivoujar a breathtaking canyon where you will have a break for lunch and some rest.

After that, you drive through the white valley towards Tarjit where you will stay for the night.

Day 4: Terjit

After breakfast, you will go to see the oasis.

Terjit oasis nestles in a gorge on the western edge of the Adrar plateau with the palm grove stretching a few hundred meters alongside a stream that emerges from a spring. With its charm, fresh water, and shade you be blown away.

After you finish the visit, you will drive to Mherith, one of the biggest Oases in the Adrar region where you will have lunch. After lunch, you will drive towards Chinguity. On the way to Chinguity, you will pass by Amogjar where you will see the prehistoric rock paintings and see the fort Sagana, an old citadel that was built to film a film about colonialism in Mauritania. Then you continue to Chinguity. You will arrive by nightfall.

Day 5: Chinguity

After breakfast fast you will go to discover the city of Chinguity.

Chinguity was an ancient caravan terminal and a major trading point between North and sub-Saharan Africa. This ancient Village backdate to the 11th century contains old manuscripts and is the second oldest mosque in Africa. You visit two of the oldest libraries in Mauritania. The libraries contain a treasure of knowledge and manuscripts.

After visiting the libraries you will go to Temkemket Oasis to freshen up and have lunch. After you have lunch and rest you will do some camel trekking. Camels will be waiting for you to ride on, the camel with take you to the Guity Dune where you will have an overview of the city and behold the beauty of the sunset over the city. Then you will go back to the guest house for dinner. After dinner, you will go to a small Mauritanian music ceremony.

Day 6: Ouadane

After breakfast, you will drive towards Ouadane

Passing by Tenouchert, an oasis in the middle of the desert for the tea break. Then you continue driving towards Ouadane built on Rocky Hill the remotest Oasis of Mauritania an outpost facing the immensity of the desert that was founded in 1147. Mainly in ruins some of its own houses are still inhabited. Then you will visit Guelb Richat.

It's also known as the eye of the Sahara/ the eye of Africa: the site and its prominent circular shape have a question for scientists. 40 km (about 25 miles) is the circumference of the largest of three concentric circles, with a dome in the center. The most recent theory believes that it was a giant volcano that collapsed and eroded.

You will spend the night in Ouadane.

Day 7: Ouadane Ben Amera

This day is full of driving. Early departure is recommended. After breakfast, you will drive to Atar. On the way, you will pass by the painting cave and see the dazzling canyon of Amogjar. Then continue to Atar. After lunch, you will drive to Ben Amera.

BEN AMERA IS THE SECOND LARGEST SOLID STONE IN THE WORLD. THIS GIGANTIC MONOLITH IS ABOUT 633 METERS (2027 FT) ABOVE THE DESERT FLOOR. IT LIES 4KM NORTH THE TRAIN TRACK. NEARBY, THERE'S A LESSER MONOLITH CALLED AÏSHA WHICH LIES 20 20-MINUTE DRIVE TO THE WEST OF BEN AMERA.

You will Spend the night under the shining stars in traditional tenets

Day 8: Zouerat

Early departure is recommended. You will drive to Zouerat to get a ride on the Iron ore train.

Full-day ride on the iron ore train, the longest train in the world.

Unfortunately, there is no fixed schedule for the train. It may leave at 14:00 it may leave later. The ride is estimated to last for 20 hours.

Day 9: Nouadhibou

Arrive in Nouadhibou. After a long ride on the train. The best thing to start with is a warm shower and some deserved rest. In the evening you will go to see the white Cape known as Cap Blanc.

Cap Blanc (the White Cape) or Ras Nouadhibou

The white cape is located at the edge of the peninsula of the economic capital Nouadhibou. This place is the home of a large colony of monk Seals, these animals are rare species to find and are threatened to go extinct.

After that, you will have a city tour if time allows it. Then you will go for dinner at a Spanish restaurant that is recommended by most travelers.

Day 10: Nouadhibou - Banc d'Arguin National Park.

After breakfast, you will drive to Cap Tafarit. once you arrive there you spend the rest of the day relaxing near the beach and take a swim if you like and behold the magnificent beauty of the sunset over the ocean

Dinner and overnight at Cap Tefarit in a traditional Mauritanian Tent.

Day 11: Iwik

After breakfast, you will drive to Iwik where you will be sailing on a traditional boat to the birds. Banc d'Arguin is a world heritage site. Two million birds make this ornithological and nature sanctuary one of the three most important migratory bird breeding sites on Earth. Pelicans, flamingos broad-billed and sandpipers are common.

Thanks to the mild climate, a scarce human presence, and the rich fishy ocean migratory birds winter here from Greenland Siberia Island Scotland making the largest water bird colony in the African continent. In this tour, you will have the chance to sail with the Imragen (fishermen's tribe) in their traditional boats and enjoy watching the colony of the birds.

Dinner and overnight at Iwik comp.

Day 12: Iwik -Nouakchott

After breakfast, we drive towards Nouamghar. We stop for lunch. Then we drive by the ocean if it's a low tide. We will arrive at a good time in Nouakchott to see the fish market and how crowded it is in the evening. We will also see the fishermen coming in with fresh fish. Then we will go to a seafood restaurant to have dinner. Then transfer to the airport.
